I collected this bowl a few years ago from a knowledgeable antiques dealer in China. This is a very old and long used shrine offering bowl of precious nephrite jade. The food or drink that it held as an offering gradually stained it in very beautiful patterns inside and out. The beautiful old bowl is thin and translucent when displayed in a strong backlight.

The incisions go all around the bowl and the alphabet characters are not like the graceful characters used today. The characters seem to have been cut into the outside walls of the bowl some time after the bowl was made. The carving of the characters are not done with the precision of the jade worker who shaped the lovely offering bowl.
Use it on your table for a decoration or in a window to show its translucence. Offer it as a gift to someone important in your life. Or simply enjoy looking at it on your shelf of collectibles.
